The AFSCM at Smart Event 2010

The AFSCM at Smart Event 2010

26 JUIL 2010 - On September 23rd, the AFSCM will hold a conference at 5.15pm.

In its 11th edition, Smart Event has become a prominent meeting place for the industry and research in three interconnected areas: digital security, e-mobility and e-ID. Here is why.

Like any powerful emerging high-tech industry, IT mobility and security feels the strong need for holding an annual dedicated Forum gathering its various types of players from academic research to professional users.

Smart Event gives them the opportunity to explore and discuss the dynamics of innovation which is the core of success: state-of-the-art technologies, market trends and issues, new strategies, next innovations… “The Innovation Forum for Mobility and Trusted Technologies & Services” was created for this purpose in 2000 and, 10 years later, remains more eager than ever to fulfil its mission.

The growing participation of world-class researchers, innovators, developers, business decision-makers shows a clear recognition: attendance figure has nearly doubled over the five past years to now reach over 600 (see Facts & Figures). This success relies on a combination of 4 features that make this event unique.

Live exchanges across the full value chain

Smart Event is more than just a usual conference and is quite different from a congress or an industry show. As recalled by its slogan, it is a Forum, designed to foster live exchanges among world-class experts in their domain through knowledge-sharing, learning, and networking.

The presence of the full value chain of industry and research multiply the exchanges: academics and research centres accounts for 30% of the participants, industry 35%, service providers 25% and key end users 10% (more on Facts & Figures).

Debates and panel discussions addressing hottest issues gives all participants additional opportunity to get new benchmarks, to recognize new market & technology trends in an interactive way.

Mix of technology, R&D and strategy

In terms of content, Smart Event has kept away from a business or solutions-oriented positioning. It has maintained a balance between technology, R&D and strategy that make up the three facets of the innovation process.

Smart Event conferences’ excellence level is insured by 3 Conference Program Committees (e-Smart, Smart Mobility, World e-ID), whose members belong to leading companies, organizations and renowned research laboratories. They carefully select presentations, through a standard research Call for Papers process: latest trends and technology innovations, new usages and new market opportunities, lessons learned from trials and live roll-outs. The best papers will have the opportunity to be published in The Computer Journal.

Complementary contents on a single platform

Smart Event combines 3 tech conferences in parallel, allowing fruitful “cross-fertilization” of ideas, knowledge and projects. Each of the 3 conferences is complementary, offering a variety of topics and richness of angles to meet the strategic and technical requirements of a high level audience: latest innovations in smart cards and digital security in e-Smart conference; trusted mobile platforms and applications in Smart Mobility conference and finally e-ID management and e-ID programs in World e-ID conference.

High level training workshops

Smart Event also offers the advanced educational program Smart University. These “State-of-the-Art ICT knowledge and training workshops”, consist of two-day modules dedicated to the latest advances in ICT technologies. Professionals are invited to sharpen their skills in Java Card 3.0, Biometrics, LTE, MtoM, Internet of Things, Location-based services, etc. The modules are designed and delivered by academics from the best European Universities and research centres.
